Decibel Mag Premiere THE FLAYING’s ‘Elegy of Emptiness’ Ft. Cryptopsy’s Chris Donaldson

For fans of The Black Dahlia Murder, Deicide, Archspire, Cryptopsy, Suffocation – New Album ‘Angry, Undead’ Out March 22nd via PRC Music

THE FLAYING, death metal from Quebec City, Canada will release their second album “Angry, Undead” on March 22, 2019, via PRC Music. Working with Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy) at The Grid in Montreal, QC, the band has manifested pure mayhem for their fastest and most brutal debauchery to date.
Their second single off this devastating sophomore album is ‘Elegy of Emptiness’, which is being premiered via Decibel Magazine:

“We look forward to this album reaching the masses, from start to finish, we feel it will be a great listen. We put in a lot of effort to choose the track listing to feature an onslaught of both French and English songs. We feel it’s great importance to take influenced international English death metal and blend it with sung French Canadian death metal. We have French tracks like ‘La Valse du Scorpion’, ‘Disloqué’ and ‘Place du Parvis’ along with English assaults with ‘Genuflect’, ‘Elegy of Emptiness’, ‘Angry, Unleashed’ and ‘Angry, Undead’. We feel they all meet the standards of tone and sound of international death metal songs. Plus them being produced, mixed and mastered at The Grid (Montreal, QC) by Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy), a legend in Quebec and beyond, gave it that extra touch of death.”

Listen to ‘Elegy of Emptiness’ here.

The concept of “Angry, Undead” is an intricate one with each of the eight songs falling under a distinct axis: Chaos (social manifestations); Madness (individual manifestations); and Void (existential manifestations). It is brutal, instinctive, unique, and wicked, and is recommended for fans of Cryptopsy, Archspire, Suffocation, and Deicide.

Album pre-order available on Bandcamp and PRC Music.

And it all began with the rope dancer….
Formed in July 2010, The Flaying is a death metal band based in Quebec City, Canada that focuses on fluid melodic construction of songs featuring brutal sections which are further complemented by vocals with both low end growls and hateful high pitches.
Since their first release Unhope (2014), Seb, Did, Wil and Mike are forging ahead in order to adopt a more brutal approach: adding new grooves, a greater velocity, and creating a wider ambiance as well as keeping breakdowns and progressive parts with counterpoints constructing a main theme of anger and a general hate of humanity.
Soldiering on with the philosophy of one band, four individuals, four personalities to collide, the writing process is a team effort initially seeing the band collaborate on riffs and groove ideas, adding a flourish of low-end colors, and blending the whole thing together with flying vocals that create a manifest of pure mayhem. This product of this steadfast diablerie will be realized on March 22, 2019, when the second album “Angry, Undead” is unleashed on PRC Music.

An all out 21st century death metal attack!

Brutal Unrest was founded in 2002 in Germany with the simple intention to play death metal. It took Brutal Unrest several years to do their debut demo and a couple of albums down the line. With each release and more attention in the media Brutal Unrest reached a bigger audience gradually. With replacements in the line-up (adding experienced people who earned their respect in bands as Prostitute Disfigurement, Suidakra, Resurrected) the music became faster and more diversified through the years.

So Brutal Unrest recorded their so-far latest album “Nemesis” in 2012 which got mixed and mastered at Soundlodge Studio by Jörg Uken. “Nemesis” was released in October 2012 and got rewarded with fantastic reactions in media and an even bigger growing fanscene. Since then Brutal Unrest has shared the stages together with Bands like Vomitory, Aborted, Fleshcrawl, Cliteater, Vile, Putrid Pile, Defeated Sanity, Cryptopsy and many more.

In 2016 Brutal Unrest hit the Soundlodge Studio again to record their new album entitled “Trinitas”. With this record Brutal Unrest received a great response from Hammerheart Records so an agreement for a Februar 2017 release was reached. Brutal Unrest enriched its brutal sound with a more atmospheric approach of death metal, while the brutality and intensity is still present.

“Trinitas” simply said is a killer death metal album that sounds top notch, with killer songs, an all out great performance by a band that knows how to create memorable songs that make you want to push the repeat button.

WORSTENEMY (Italian Death Metal) will start recording their new album..

WORSTENEMY (Italian Death Metal) will start recording their new album at Mathlab Studio with producer Jonny Mazzeo on November the 27th.

The record will be mixed by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy) in Montreal (Canada).
To describe this moment, the band has released a video, talking about the work behind the new album and introducing 2 new members in the line-up :Simone “Arconda” Piras on drums and Luigi Cara on bass.

“WORSTENEMY, active since 1997, are born from the ashes of Karnak in Oristano city (Sardinia). In 1998 the band leaves the thrash cover repertory and career into a new dimension of Death Metal, Florida style. WORSTENEMY kick off their live shows playing some of the most prestigious venues in Sardinia. Soon the band draw the attention of fans and of metal music industry thanks to the great blasting impact and true attitude. In November 2000 the band recorded their 1st self titled (and self-produced) demo at Ziggurath in Porto Torres. The demo contains 4 tracks: Strange Life, Karnak (Darkness In Me), Perverse Mind, New Enemy. From here on, WORSTENEMY became a well known name in the Sardinia metal scene. After a relentless live schedule and  the distribution of the 1st demo, in 2003 the band start recording 2 new tracks (“Spectrum” and “Master Of Souls”) at Ziggurath studios. Soon followed by another track “Dissolved In Nothing” which is recorded in their own rehearsal room by Marco Marini (ex Doggo).

In the 2005 the band release “Cursed EP”; it’s a split vinyl with Mind Snare (veteran death metal band) released by Sardinian label Rapture Asylum Productions. In 2007/2008 the band play many live shows and even find then time to record 6 new killing tracks at Marco Marini’s studio in Sassari for the new debut CD “Under Ashes Of Wicked” ( released by Rapture Asylum Productions).

Once the new record is out and hopefully drawing in more fan’s of WORSTENEMY, the band started to self promote their material hoping to find a record company. In 2013 they sign with Wormholedeath Records and release their debut album “Revelation”.

New Noise Mag Premiere Montreal Prog Metal FRACTAL CYPHER ‘Lost’

Reveal Album Artwork and Track Listing For ‘The Human Paradox’

Teaming up with New Noise Magazine, Montreal prog metallers FRACTAL CYPHER are giving fans a taste of what’s to come with the premiere of their second single ‘Lost’ off their upcoming debut album ‘The Human Paradox’ set for a release on September 7th. The album is produced by Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Beyond Creation, Neuraxis) and will be comprised of 9 songs, each hand picked and strategically chosen to best represent the living, breathing entity that is FRACTAL CYPHER.fractal_cypher_-_lost_-_single

“This track is the perfect balance between heaviness and softness, and it’s a track that truly unleashes the full sound of the band. I’d say it’s the most representative song of the record in terms of sound, composition and arrangements. It’s a song we enjoy to play and I think people will feel the same as we do. Play it loud!” comments vocalist Simon Lavoie.

FRACTAL CYPHER exists to captivate audiences with progressive instrumentals that cut through the mesmerizing vocals yet somehow evolving; each listen provides a new perspective. Straight out of the heart of Canada’s metal scene, these Montreal metallers constantly shift their compositions with seamless transitions and theatrical interludes to keep audiences on their toes. Since 2014, ex-Far From Reality members Simon Lavoie (vocals), Ludovick Daoust (keyboard), and Vincent Bruneau (guitar) have dedicated themselves to FRACTAL CYPHER.
The powerful quintet is just as versatile in their music as they are in their musical interests, darting between djent, death metal, and classic rock. Each song acts of their own volition almost taking control of the members and shaping a personality and energy not unlike a living entity. Ludovick is at the helm of songwriting, calculating and unlocking each melody and becoming the voice for each piece.

[EVERTRAPPED] are a Montreal-based five piece bringing relentlessly brutal melodic death metal to audiences since 2007. The name is intentionally written with enclosed brackets to signify the trappings of modern life for all of us and how people, despite their best attempts to break out of the mold are still affixed to a simple controlled existence and futility.

Members of the band bring together their collective experience from the Montreal metal scene to create their heavy brand of death metal. The guitarists Frederick Dupuis (ex-Daggerfalls) and Vincent Benoit hammer out raw guitar while drummer Eric Lemire (ex-Apocalypsys, ex-Ice Castle) pummels the drums. Their versatile frontman James Brookes (ex-Ammonia, ex-One Final Moment, Continuum) easily alternates between strong clear vocals and low bellowing screams giving listeners the illusion of more than one vocalist. John Yates (ex-AraPacis) weaves together each song with his driving bass lines to keep the punishing tracks energy at an all time high.
Lyrics are intentionally slightly abstract to lure fans to draw their own conclusions despite a perceived understanding of the tracks. Themes for the music revolve around personal turmoil and even stringing together the image of a future where the world is on the brink of an apocalypse.
The band’s influences range from Death Metal to Melodic Death primarily, along with some classic thrash and speed metal, which explains their technicality and diversity sonically. Live, the band is a whirlwind of aggression and sonically abrasive, yet sporadically melodic vocally and instrumentally.
The band will release their ‘Under The Deep’ on October 16, 2015 available through Hellstorm Recordz.

About the album and track by track explained by Evertrapped.
Under The Deep is an exploration of the deepest reaches of human madness. Not clinical madness, but simply the darkest regions of the soul and the blackest part of the human heart from a mind found to be socially functional, but is really way too far gone. And thus it seeks to explore what is underneath the deepest depth, hence no matter how deep you descend there’s always another layer that can be torn away.

  1. […] intro

  1. Arise From The Ashes: A depiction of someone who has actually reached the bottom, so their rise from there so to speak. Like the king of their own universe broken by all clawing it’s back but fueled by an ever consuming hatred.

  1. Underneath The Deep: A personal look at how a person can only be fucked up by someone else for too long until they break. But this takes you to a point where you now can’t come back.

  1. Palace Of Injustice: A stab at anyone blinded by the indoctrination of any institution and their ultimate demise that likely follows due to their ignorance towards it. However, it does aim more at the disgust of the institutions themselves and not so much the ignorance of the people.

  1. Hypnotized By Hatred: Another personal reflection, but in this case more a person who has been made to believe that all they do is wrong. So it brings up the sense where if you tell someone enough times that they are shit, then eventually they will just believe it. And in this case someone who becomes a very dark god loathing individual because it takes them to a point where they think it’s hysterical.

  1. Blood Of The Fallen: This is set in a horror like context although it not some zombie tribute. It simply laughs at how we place so much importance on the memory of the dead yet never bat an eye at the reality of human suffering which we ourselves cause.

  1. Lethal District: Somewhat of a post apocalyptic view of the surviving factions of humanity that instill themselves as the powers that be, and thus cast out the unclean, unworthy, and so forth. And therefore it sheds light on the madness and revolt of the unwanted.

  1. Burning Through Vengeance: This is a straight up rebel song. A certain arrogant fuck you to a society that rejects you, but you still know that you know better than them. So instead you’ll bide your time and watch them hilariously screw themselves over.

  1. Reaper: As the title suggests, an end of the line type song. In a certain way captures the essence of[EVERTRAPPED] in terms of the inescapable event that is death.

  1. Embrace The End: This also goes more or less as the title suggests. This is another song for the apocalypse but more at the actual hour of the end itself. A look at almost coming to terms with the fact that it was likely the fault of humanity and embracing the acceptance of such evil.

Album Band Line Up:oslo lineup

Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) on drums,
Stelios Mavromitis (Septicflesh live guitarist) on guitars,
Christos Antoniou (SepticFlesh) – sampling and orchestration,
Martin Storm-Olsen (Trollfest) – guitars and clean vocals,
Dmitry Sukhinin – bass, guitars, vocals.

Born out the darkness of Siberia and re-located on the shores of Oslo, Norway in 2012, progressive death metal band DEFECT DESIGNER pushes forward in 2015 with their second full length ‘Ageing Accelerator’ due out on July 13th via Sleaszy Rider Records.

It is our second album, in terms of playing it is much more mature than the previous, it is not that raw, much more easy listening and understandable. The first album was on the edge of complete disharmony and it is hard to repeat it. We believe that Ageing Accelerator may become someone’s favorite record. It sounds like a different band, but it is us.” says founding vocalist and guitarist Dmitry Sukhinin.

The album features a brutal recording line up that includes drummer Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy), guitarist Stelios Mavromitis (SepticFlesh live guitarist),  Martin Storm-Olsen (ex-Trollfest) on guitars and clean vocals, Christos Antoniou (SepticFlesh) for sampling and orchestration along with Dmitry Sukhinin on vocals, bass and guitars.

After the first lineup dissolved I was so desperate that I wrote to few people and got the recording lineup.” explains Dmitry Sukhinin. “SepticFlesh’s Seth proposed his brother Christos to help with orchestration, Christos proposed SepticFlesh’s live guitar player Stelios to do guitars, Flo from Cryptopsy did the drums, cause actually he was my main drum inspiration. I did bass, and during the recording I met Martin who was in Trollfest before, he did clean vocals and some solos along with my solos. Then the real line up started to build up and we have Anders from Blood Red Throne. As for me, I also play in Oslo jazz death metal Diskord.”

Their live line up consists of members of ex-Blood Red Throne, Images At Twilight, ex-Trollfest, Diskord and other music projects: Dmitry Sukhinin on vocals and guitars, Martin Storm-Olsen on guitars and clean vocals and Anders Faret Haave on drums, which has shared the stage over the years with Napalm Death, Helheim, Welicoruss, Apokefale and Demon Project among many others.

The ten track ripper is an aural assault that fans of SepticFlesh, Gorguts, Cryptopsy, Slipknot, and Carcass will not want to miss as it follows DEFECT DESIGNER’s evolution from 2013’s ‘AA’ EP, 2009’s ‘WAX’ album and 2007 debut EP ‘W’.

“We have very mature drum parts, very jazzy, and groovy, not following the click, very alive. We have something that resembles solos on this recording. We have added samples and some orchestration, very beautiful vibraphone moment. Plenty of effects on guitars. Double tracks for guitars, double tracks for vocals.
