Latest News – RAIDER Premiere Music Video ‘Bound By No Fate’ Off Upcoming Album “Guardian of The Fire” via Metal Injection
Comparing it to the 2018 EP “Urge To Kill”, RAIDER has this to say:
“We brought back a lot of familiar elements but added so much more. ‘Guardian of The Fire’ is more diverse, more aggressive, and is frankly just going to hit way harder. We’re stoked to see what our fans and future fans think of these new tunes!”
The band set out with a goal of making this record to be an absolute assault from beginning to end.
Story Angles/ Fun Facts:
1. Raider had never been a full line up until 2020. Since inception, they’ve had fill-ins for second guitar duties live. They’re stoked to finally be fully-fledged and ready to showcase what we can do as a 5 piece unit.
2. The photographer that took their album’s photo of the band is none other than Wesley Raffan. The same man who took the picture of Sepultura on the back of 1989’s Beneath the Remains.
3. The band plays in E standard. No ones really doing it anymore and they’ve always been a fan of the tightness that E standard brings to the table. Combine Death-Thrash played in standard with blackened death metal vocals and you’ve basically got the recipe for their sound.
Track by track explanation ;
1. Bound By No Fate: This song is meant to be a barrage from beginning to end. It’s about forging your own path in spite of all the overwhelming evidence that your path is chosen for you.
2. No Sign of The Dawn: A groovy thrash attack about the cost of taking our world for granted. It’s a reflection on getting human priorities straight.
3. Endless Vengeance: This song pummels you with fast assaults and slow, pounding valleys. A story of the never-ending will to avenge and restore the balance between the betrayer and the betrayed.
4. Guardian of The Fire: At the heart of this album is the principle of keeping the truth alive and settling for nothing less. Musically this song is a winding journey that grooves, stanks and has a heavy-hitting chorus.
5. Infernal Justice: This song is kind of like a helix DNA strand: one twisting curve is an old school riff, the other is dark and almost black metal in character. With great power comes great responsibility and humanity wields great power. This song is about using that power for justice instead of evil.
6. Ravenous Hydra: Previously we said that this record revolves around the theme of overcoming, and the story of Hercules versus the Hydra is one that stood out and we wanted to write about. Sometimes it feels like when we conquer one hardship, two take its place. In spite of this, it’s important to keep moving forward. Musically, hydra is a reflection of battle – the chorus is the relentless head diving in to devour you, and the verses provide a small respite until the final head is claimed.
7. Offering of Souls: Part one of two – this and our final song go hand in hand. Every mythos on Earth and from beyond has their respective lore of both creator… and destroyer. This is definitely one of our grooviest songs with a pounding bassline that really gets your blood pumping.
8. Destroyer: Part two of two – it is only fitting that the final Destroyer be placed at the book end of the record. We wanted to put a voice to the archetype of the destroyer god and tell that story. We frame it in a riff that is both thrashy and rampaging that culminates in a hard-hitting and definitive chorus.

Newfoundland Black Metal Duo ARTACH release
“Chronicles of A Black Winter”
Artach, an epic and raw two-man black metal band/project (Sruthán: Guitar, Bass, Fíochmhar: Battery, Vokills) based in St. John’s, Newfoundland have unleashed their debut album entitled “Chronicles of a Black Winter”. Just released on February 24th, the full length consists of nine songs including “When The Forest Ends” for which the band released a music video for in the fall of 2019 plus a cover of Celtic Frost’s ‘Jewel Throne’ as a bonus track.
Digging into the inspirations of a few of the songs, the band reveals that the typical “evil” lyrics were not territory they wanted to tread. Instead, a near-mystical connection to the land and in particular to the northern climate of their home is where their hearts lie. The title for the song “When The Forest Ends” was inspired by the recent Amazon rain forest fires. Global climate change also inspired the track “Permafrost” with the twist of what ancient contagion may be unleashed as the arctic warms. It’s not all environmentalism though, as songs like “Frozen in Time” have more of a sci-fi leaning, and “Fire & Ice” questions the end of the universe.
The band adds: “We have been crafting music for just 9 months and we have been very prolific and felt it was time to release a selection of 9 tracks on an album. We have more songs recorded and more written, and we will keep pumping them out as we head towards a second album. We hope you enjoy our old school black metal approach as we keep things raw and honest.”
Since their formation in the spring of 2019, Artach has been consistently releasing new music. Being from the foggiest, snowiest, wettest, windiest, and gloomiest capital city in Canada, one should not be surprised that this fuels the creation of Black Metal.

With the release of their self-titled EP in the summer of 2015, this energetic three piece started their journey to rock and roll glory. This journey started in the Netherland’s very own city of rock Eindhoven, selling out local headlining shows and has led the band to other great gigs all over Europe, sharing the stage with the likes of Truckfighters, Corrosion Of Conformity, Elder and Steak no.8.
Expectations for their debut album where high amongst their ever growing fanbase and An Evening With Knives has met these expectations with their critically acclaimed album ‘Serrated’ released in 2018 on CD by Argonauta Records (Italy) and on vinyl by Lighttown Fidelity (NL)
The Serrated tour brought them to great festivals like the illustrious Incubate Festival in Tilburg and Belgium’s Roadkill Festival. Later in 2018 they released their EP ‘Fade out’ and kept on touring ending their season on a high with a big show at Alcatraz 2019.
Another great Belgium rock festival with a 20.000 attendance.
And the journey continues. March 6, 2020 ‘Sense of Gravity’ will see the light of day. This follow-up album brings everything you can expect from a An Evening With Knives record and more.
The Show Must Go On…

MISERY INDEX embark on European tour with Napalm Death & Rotten Sound
Death Metal outfit MISERY INDEX are about to embark on their previously announced European tour together with NAPALM DEATH and label mates ROTTEN SOUND. The tour will kick off at the Kulttempel in Oberhausen tonight and a full list of confirmed shows can be found below.
In celebration of the rampage, MISERY INDEX teamed up with Metal Hammer (UK) for the the release of a brief history/tour documentary about these masters of the death-grind! You can watch the documentary in full on ROCK-PIX MEDIA.
will be touring in support of their recently released album ‘Rituals of Power’. The artwork, which is created by Raphael Gabrio, and track details can be viewed below.
1. Universal Untruths (2:35)
2. Decline and Fall (4:36)
3. The Choir Invisible (4:26)
4. New Salem (3:24)
5. Hammering the Nails (3:46)
6. Rituals of Power (5:20)
7. They Always Come Back (5:08)
8. I Disavow (4:21)
9. Naysayer (2:26)
The band comment on the album: “‘Rituals of Power’ is a disavowal and warning against the consequences of our so-called ‘post-truth’ age. Each of the 9 songs revolves loosely around this theme, yet each track also stands very much on its own. As an album however, they are all brought to life as one ‘reanimated’ monster; it’s roughly 35 minutes of unhinged, yet cohesive, riff-driven aural ballistics. We were pissed off and on fire during both the writing and recording, and we think it shows in spades. We set out to write the best album we could, based on what we would want to hear first as fans of this music, and we could not be happier.”
Jason Netherton: bass, vocals – Adam Jarvis: drums – Mark Kloeppel: guitar, vocals – Darin Morris: lead guitar
MISERY INDEX return furiously with their brand new album, ‘Rituals of Power’! With their sixth full-length, the American icons of hard hitting brutality display the strength of maturity grown out of the experience gained as a relentless touring machine. The general trend of their continuous evolution to incorporate less core elements and move towards classic death metal finds a new high water mark.
When their debut EP ‘Overthrow’ was recorded in 2001 by vocalist and bassist Jason Netherton (ex-DYING FETUS) together with (then) guitarist and vocalist Mike Harrison and drummer Kevin Talley (ex-DYING FETUS), MISERY INDEX immediately charted a course to explore and push the limits of Death Metal and Grindcore, drawing influence from bands like MORBID ANGEL, NAPALM DEATH, TERRORIZER, BOLT THROWER and ENTOMBED. The erstwhile project shifted to a full time band when guitarist Sparky Voyles (ex-DYING FETUS) joined.
In 2003, MISERY INDEX unleashed their first full-length ‘Retaliate’, to exceptional reviews and followed by numerous support tours and festivals in Europe and North America. After several line-up changes, second album ‘Discordia’ was released in 2006 with even more touring in its wake. Their third full-length, ‘Traitors’ (2008) reaped raving reactions from both critics and fans and saw the band on the road again until 2009. Then MISERY INDEX dropped ‘Heirs to Thievery’ (2010) like a bomb on the Death Metal masses, shattering all expectations. The album was both a commercial and critical success, elevating the band to headlining slots. During that year, long time guitarist Sparky Voyles was replaced by Darin Morris.
A string of shows and festivals around the globe followed and on the Munich date of ‘Full of Hate Tour’ alongside CANNIBAL CORPSE, BEHEMOTH and LEGION OF THE DAMNED, the band recorded their first live album. Released early 2013, ‘Live in Munich’ perfectly epitomized the rawness and ferocity that MISERY INDEX elevated onto a new level with their fifth full length “The Killing Gods” in 2014.
Now with “Rituals of Power”, revolving around the concept of “truth”, MISERY INDEX are back with nine crushing tracks which tackle how ‘truth’ has been constructed and molded throughout history as a means to uphold power, regimes and ideologies. Brace, hold tight and run for cover, the wrath of MISERY INDEX is upon us and they are more furious than they’ve ever been.

Canadian Guitar Prog PYRAMIDS ON MARS Premieres Full Stream of Third Album “Edge of The Black”
For fans of Joe Satriani, Rush, Yngwie J Malmsteen, Steve Vai
Guitarist Kevin Estrella’s project Pyramids On Mars has a new album being released on December 21, 2019, entitled “Edge of the Black”. This third full length from Pyramids On Mars offers up an aural palette of intense instrumental progressive shredding rock that’s emotional, provocative and 4-dimensional.
Teaming up with Bravewords, Pyramids On Mars is premiering the album’s full stream before it officially drops HERE.
“On ‘Edge of The Black’, I wanted to put emphasis on songwriting and telling a story. The emphasis is not just on the lead guitar melody, but on the band as a whole. Harmonic variations on repeating themes are strongly utilized; like rhyming phrases in spoken language that allows easier accurate retelling of the original story. This idea of repeating music phrases/themes so the audience can easily recall it and hum it all the way home.
Many people would think that being an instrumental guitarist that I must listen to a lot of guitar players. On the contrary, I do not. Yes, I was originally influenced by guitar players like Joe Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen and spent many years learning their style. But my own sense of identity has come from the music I am most passionate about, which is Baroque Classical Music. I am a huge Yngwie Malmsteen fan. I spent two years, in fact, listening to nothing, but Malmsteen and studied his style. But I did not want to become another Malmsteen clone. I realized that in order to play like him, I had to listen to his influences. My life changed when I started listening to Bach, Vivaldi, and Paganini. It was like hearing music for the very first time. I listen to mostly classical music these days.

When you listen to Edge of the Black, most of the guitar melodies are actually violin melodies. And many of them are found in my online instructional guitar lessons. There are a few other people who inspired Edge of the Black. You will hear Iron Maiden, Rammstein and Queen influences. Some of the bass parts are inspired by Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) and John Deacon (Queen).
Personally ‘Edge of The Black’ sounds like if Joe Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen joined Rush.” “Edge of the Black” follows Pyramids On Mars’ two previous albums and was written, composed and performed solely by Kevin Estrella who cites influences from musical greats including J.S Bach and Antonio Vivaldi along with today’s guitar virtuosos Yngwie Malmsteen and Joe Satriani. “Edge of the Black” pays homage to these artists while still maintaining Estrella’s own creative flair. Estrella shares his thoughts on the album
“Edge of The Black” pre-order available on Bandcamp.
Every once in a while there comes along a band that is so different or unique, you would think they were dropped on Earth from another planet. Pyramids On Mars is one of those bands. What first catches you, is that they are an instrumental band. A combination of elements such as hard rock, industrial, metal and psychedelic rock: and then the lead guitar comes soaring in. Well crafted, beautiful, melodic phrases so catchy and memorable they will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
Pyramids On Mars is the solo project of guitarist Kevin Estrella. He wanted to do something musically different that would stand out from the crowd. Estrella’s musical style is very similar to world-renowned rock guitarist Joe Satriani, so much so that Estrella has nicknamed himself the “Satriani of the North.”
“Of course Satriani has had a huge influence on me,” he says “But he (Satriani) does more of a bluesy thing whereas I am more influenced by classical music. I absolutely love the Baroque classical composers J.S Bach and Antonio Vivaldi who are my biggest musical influences.
Estrella recorded, produced, engineered and mastered his debut album, self-titled “Pyramids On Mars” in 2013. Since then, he has been capturing music industry attention-getting international radio airplay in the U.S, Canada, South America, and Europe. He is a regular guest on Brian ‘the hammer’ Jackson radio (Los Angeles) to over 4 million listeners and a weekly speaker on Real Rock Radio (Chicago).

Temple Renegade biography
Temple Renegade is a four piece Heavy Rock/Progressive Metal band hailing from The Netherlands, drawing on influences from the likes of: Karnivool, Mastodon, Gojira, Leprous, He is Legend and many others.
The band was called into life by Sven and Jerome in 2014 and was dabbling with heavy rock sounds in its fledgling days. Drum reinforcement was soon to be found in the likes of Sander, who has since been spearheading the band’s rhythmic adventures. The hunt for a bassist went through a few iterations and Angel turned out to be a keeper. Since then, the band’s sound started moving away from its rock roots and started to lean more toward Metal.
Temple Renegade has released two EPs, “Blacked out Ocean” (2016) and “Void Machine” (2017), and have made well deserved appearances on the international scene, touring both the UK in 2016 and 2018, and France in 2017. Once back in the Netherlands the band continued to tour their home country, winning band battles [They were also featured in the Wacken Metal Battle finals for the Netherlands], and writing new material, taking their musical journey into even darker vibes.
The band has spent the last year writing and recording their debut full length album, ‘The All Is None’, which will come out on November 22nd 2019.
